Density
Hi! I am sure everybody knows or heard of the dead sea before and of its strange ability to allow the personn to float on the sea. The reason behind this is pretty simple: The dead sea has very low concentration of sulfate ions (SO24) and the highest concectration of bromide ions. Its salt levels are also the highest on the planet. All of these factors added would cause the unusual low density of the sea. To put it simply, try out this example . Firstly, prepare a bowl of water at a depth of the width of an egg. Place an egg in the water. Observe if the egg floats or sinks. Next, add a generous amount of salt into the water and stir till the alt dissolves. You will observe that the egg floats after you add salt. I am sure you would have known why people can float on the dead sea. Bye!

Iceberg

Hi! While surfing the net earlier, I read about the news regarding an iceberg breaking in Antarctica. Luckily, this incident is not caused by global warming but a natural incident which occured. In 1987, an iceberg called B98 ,which broken off from Antartica, had floated and "parked" near the glacier. Each day, it was constantly pulled and pushed by the water currents and it knocked against the glacier like a giagntic hammer. Hence, it was soon disloged and broke off. Scientists predict that more of such ice will float around the Antartica coast and some would come in the way of others. A couple of scientists are worried that this would disrupt the sinking ability of cole and dense water, leaving several areas starved of oxygen. That's all bye!
Egyptians
Hi! This thursday, my class went on a field trip to an egyptian exhibition and I will be sharing my findings with you.
I am sure everyone is familiar with the pyramid of Giza in Egypt, but do you know to be precise the amount of stones taken to build it
In truth the amount required is about 2.3 million stones and a pyramid took about 20 years to be built!! You mu
st remember that the pyramids were built close to 5000 years ago.
Then the were no such things as cranes and mathematical instruments to measure the length or height of each block of stone. Imagine how difficult it was for the Eygpytians to build a standing pyramid! To egyptians, they believthe person has done good his life he would live in Osiris' kingdom a place next to paradise. If not the person's e that death is simply a door to after life. They believe that a person's doings up to his death will be evaluted in the weighing of the heart. They believe that if heart will be eaten up by the demon Ammut. Thats all I learnt. Got to go now. Bye!
